.

With almost 30,000 votes from the public over the course of the day, Manchester’s Finest editor, Ben Brown hitch hiked into the city centre in his 3 piece suit, John Smiths in hand. The Manchester public were not so kind, as he went from a barbers, to tequila shots, to a tattoo parlour in the space of around 2 hours.

 .

Starting his day at 10am, he began posting on Instagram asking the public to vote on what he has to do to start his day. It was a Jagermeister. He then let his social media followers control every decision he made throughout the day, right through until midnight, with the entire thing caught on camera.

.

Throughout the day Ben asked followers for suggestions, and ended up shaving his full beard into an elegant handlebar moustache, had his very own Bandersnatch tattoo, and tried and failed to eat 40 Chicken Nuggets in one sitting (35 was his limit).

.

The Editor from Manchester’s Finest said ‘It was clear when the votes made me start with a Jagermeister followed by a can of John Smith that it was not going to be a pretty day. Turns out the people of Manchester have a pretty dark side, it was clear nobody cared that it had taken me a solid four months to grow my beard. I’m still sporting a ‘tache that would make Freddie Mercury, Ian Rush and Jim MacDonald jealous’

.

You can view the full video of his social media controlled day here:

Styled to mimic the infamous Vote Leave campaign coach – the vehicle bears a new slogan – ‘Take back the remote control’. The campaign was designed and executed by creative agency Taylor Herring.

The promotional bus was unveiled in Westminster as part of a tour that takes in London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester and Bristol.

To mark the launch of the new film, the broadcaster also commissioned an exclusive study into the national conversation about Brexit, and obtained data from Twitter revealing just how much it has dominated our thoughts since the referendum.

Research reveals that Brits can’t avoid Brexit, as we have over 92 million conversations about it every 24 hours, while the term ‘Brexit’ is heard more than 507 million times a day in the UK.

New figures from Twitter show there have been 180 million tweets globally mentioning Brexit since the beginning of January 2016 – but only two thirds of those have come from the UK.

Channel 4’s new film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Leave campaign director Dominic Cummings, telling the new story of how the campaign ran behind the scenes.

Brexit: The Uncivil War airs on Channel 4 tonight, Monday 7th January, 9pm

To celebrate, Sky and independent agency, RPM, have created an epic launch party and truly immersive experiential event.

The House of Sky Q experience is now live in London’s bustling Soho, bringing the most iconic Sky and Netflix shows to life in four impressive themed rooms.

From Sky Atlantic, guests will be transported into the cold beyond the wall in Game of Throne’s Castle Black, followed by the eerie Wild West setting of Westworld, where sherry punch is on the menu at the Mariposa Saloon. Tavern girls and cowboys fill the bar but guests shouldn’t relax too much, as there could be some drama coming their way.

From Netflix, guests will step into Buckingham palace and sup from the Queen’s finest china in The Crown room. Finally, things will get tense in the Stranger Things room, where guests will be encouraged to help in the search for Will.

The event was launched last night with a star-studded event, attended by the cast of Sky Atlantic’s show Riviera, alongside Daisy Lowe, Hugo Taylor, Mollie King, Dave Berry, Owen Teale, Jamie Laing and Kay Burley, to name just a few. Kiss DJs, the Dixon Brother’s, helped to create the party atmosphere with a Kisstory set to get everyone on their feet. Today, the experience is open exclusively to Sky customers who registered through Sky’s new rewards app ‘Sky VIP.’ The experience is will be open to the rest public this weekend.

Sky’s Director of Promotions, Partnerships and Experiential, Bob Suppiah said: “We wanted to unite the two worlds of Sky Q and Netflix at this event, enabling us to showcase some of the great entertainment that’s now all in one place on Sky. We knew that RPM would help us to deliver an unforgettable experience and we’re excited to be able to surprise and delight our customers in this way.”

This year, Robinsons will support Wimbledon with a £1m marketing campaign, including limited edition merchandise and packs, sampling activity, social media support and a Robinsons pop up café, to drive even further brand exposure throughout The Championships.

With sustainability front of mind, to help reduce the amount of plastic at The Championships, which receives nearly 500,000 attendees and serves close to a million drinks each year, Britvic has introduced new Robinsons personalised reusable drinks bottles. Visitors will be able to purchase the personalised bottle for £7, or just £5 if they return an empty bottle of Refresh’d for recycling to Robinsons’ Play Tennis Café.

Kevin McNair, GB Marketing Director, Britvic says: “Providing consumers with reusable drinks bottles at Wimbledon is part of our ongoing commitment to tackling plastic pollution. We are proud of the fact that all Robinsons PET plastic bottles are fully recyclable in the UK, with 99% of local authorities collecting PET at the kerbside. Plus Robinsons, due to the fact it’s a concentrated drink, uses less plastic per serving compared to many other soft drinks.”

To help fans stay refreshed, Robinsons will also be offering free samples of Refresh’d to consumers in the queue and encouraging visitors to fill their reusable bottles, paper cups or own bottles up for free with their brand-new Fruit Creations range.

Robinsons Squash’d packs have also been given a makeover with a limited-edition Wimbledon pack design.

A supporting social media competition is being run around The Championships, with four pairs of ‘money can’t buy’ VIP tickets and 100 reusable drink bottles prizes given away per week for four weeks, up until July 5th. To be in with a chance of winning, consumers have to create and name a new Fruit Creations flavour.

The Robinsons partnership with Wimbledon, one of the most quintessentially British relationships in history, was born in 1935 when Robinsons’ original Lemon Barley Water was first served at Wimbledon to refresh players during breaks. Since then, Robinsons has sponsored The Championships annually.

From its beginnings as a one flavour brand, Robinsons now has six ranges in its portfolio, having launched Robinsons Fruit Creations earlier this year and Robinsons Refresh’d in 2017, which was named as the No.1 soft drinks NPD launch of 2017.

The Robinsons brand is owned by Britvic.

The campaign will include TV sponsorship, a partnership with Sky, print advertising and prize promotions offering the chance to win cricket tickets and cricket merchandise.

The Rules According to Hardys puts the UK’s most trusted wine brand at the heart of family life with a warm and engaging theme about the different rules and quirks around families and the game of cricket.

The Hardys campaign will feature heavily during the cricket season including TV sponsorship of Channel 5 Cricket Highlights, which reaches 10.4m adults, a partnership with SkySports.com and cricket print media advertising. There will be a strong brand presence in England cricket grounds across the UK with perimeter boards, promotional activity and branded bars.

Hardys will be promoted in both the on- and off-trade including gondola ends, summer seasonal aisles and competitions to win cricket tickets and related branded products to drive awareness and purchase at point of purchase.

David White, Marketing Director for Accolade Wines, says: “We have consistently invested in Hardys sponsorship of the England cricket team over the last few years and now established our credentials as a long term supporter of English cricket. We are confident that this new campaign, The Rules According to Hardys, will connect with our consumers by raising a smile at the quirky ways British families interpret the rules and enjoy time together, especially when playing cricket.”

The campaign will extend to Hardys social channels through a partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board to create a series of posts revealing the quirky personal family rules of those that grew up around the game.

The Hardys brand, with retail sales worth in excess of £275m a year, will also front a search to celebrate the unsung heroes of local grassroots crickets, and will be revealing its support for some unusual cricket traditions during the season.

Accolade Wines, which owns the Hardys brand, is a major global wine business based in Australia. It began as Thomas Hardy and Sons, founded in 1853, and now has operations in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, mainland Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. At the beginning of April 2018, US private equity firm The Carlyle Group bought Accolade for Aus $1bn. The sellers were Australian private equity firm Champ, which owned 80% of the business, and US alcohol group Constellation, which owned the remaining 20%.

Accolade’s Echo Falls brand recently signed up as the drinks partner of what is likely to be the summer’s hottest TV show, Love Island 2018, on ITV2, and will be offering the chance to win tickets to the live Love Island final.

Accolade says that since its launch in 2003, Echo Falls has grown to be the second largest wine brand in the UK behind Hardys, with a sales value of £164m. Its sweeter styled Fruit Fusion sub-brand combines wine with other fruit flavours, including combinations such as strawberry and lime, raspberry and cassis and the UK’s favourite fruit fusion, Summer Berries. The Fruit Fusions range alone is worth over £60m annually.

Laurence Hinton, Brand Manager for Echo Falls, says: “We are partnering with what is probably the UK’s most talked about TV property with a huge appeal among our target audience of 18-24 year olds. Echo Falls is the second largest wine brand in the UK and this partnership allows us to tap into the fun, spontaneous side of our core consumer and engage with them on a new level. This partnership doesn’t just offer compelling airtime it translates into digital and word of mouth which is a key channel for our consumers.”

Last year’s series of Love Island was one of the biggest programmes of the summer with the final delivering ITV2’s biggest ever viewing figures.

As part of the partnership, Echo Falls will be creating co-branded bottles, and the Love Island logo will also appear on POS, in-store, social, digital and advertising. Echo Falls will be directing consumers who buy the limited-edition Love Island branded bottles to their Facebook page where they will be able to take part in a nationwide competition to win a pair of tickets to the Live Love Island final.

The brand new Echo Falls TV advertisement will also been seen across key advertising breaks around Love Island and Video On Demand around the show and other key programming, as well as featuring on the ITV Hub.

Hinton adds: “Our consumers are spontaneous and sociable and they are watching and participating in the Love Island experience which extends from broadcast to digital and generates high levels of conversation in offices, universities and homes across the country. Love Island is a perfect fit for Echo Falls as both brands attract people who have the same attitude and approach to life.”

Claire Heys, ITV Brand Partnerships and Content Director, commenst: “Love Island is one of the biggest shows on TV and I’m very pleased to welcome Echo Falls on board as a partner. We know that the start of the new series is a highly anticipated event and the success of the programme means we can offer amazing opportunities for brands to work with us.”

Accolade Wines is a major global wine business based in Australia.
