WAC PR & Marketing is set to add bite to the Rubens apple campaign in the UK – following its appointment by Norman Collett, the dynamic English fruit marketing group based in Paddock Wood, in Kent.
WAC PR & Marketing has been tasked with masterminding and implementing an imaginative campaign that will include the launch of a dynamic social networking programme for the Rubens apple.
WAC will also implement an innovative promotion at The National Fruit Show this October, a high profile campaign in the mother and baby market and several creative nationwide Rubens competitions in conjunction with some of the UK’s leading supermarkets.
Norman Collett has appointed WAC PR & Marketing to add further momentum to the already successful introduction of Rubens into the UK. In 2007 some 30,000 trees were planted by a number of visionary members of the strong group of growers who market their fruit through Norman Collett, following an exclusive UK rights agreement signed by the British marketing group with Italian nurserymen CIV.
By the summer of 2009, 140,000 had been planted in Kent as the combination of a high quality, high yield tree added to excellent storage qualities, taste and texture won favour with apple growers across the county. Likewise major store groups across the UK including Tesco, Co-op, Morrisons and Booths have proved quick to crunch into the profitable Rubens market with the crop selling out in four weeks in 2008.
Sarah Calcutt, business development manager at Norman Collett, says: “We are delighted to have appointed an award-winning agency with a proven track record to represent the new star in the apple orchard. How appropriate to have an agency based here in the ‘Garden of England’ the apple growing capital of the country.”
