Trailblazers UK, the Dorset-based project managers of promotional events in the retail sector, have been tasked by cash and carry wholesaler Makro to conduct World Cup cooking demonstrations to Makro’s hotel, restaurant and caterer customers in 30 stores across the UK.
TBUK’s team of chefs are using Makro’s own branded food products and cooking equipment to demonstrate how food can be served to customers who are immersed in the forthcoming football World Cup.
Ideas include ‘vertical dining’ - allowing customers to eat whilst standing up and cheering on their team, such as a ‘Pint of Fish & Chips’.
The chefs are also serving up ideas for traditional national dishes to tie in with the countries that are playing; for example for an England vs Japan match, a pub might be encouraged to include “Fish and Chips vs Teriyaki Noodles” on that evening’s menu.
The in-store demonstrations are taking place throughout May 2010.
Makro are keen to support their catering customer base during the busy World Cup event with relevant special offers taking place and the chances for customers to win large screen TVs.
Trailblazers UK lists many companies within the Co-operative Group among its clients (including Co-operative Food’s integration of the Somerfield chain), as well as Tesco Stores, Mothercare / Early Learning Centre, Clarks Shoes, Brighthouse and Superdrug.
