Pizza Hut launches bus stop stickers

Fri 12th Feb 2010
Pizza Hut is using promotional bus stop stickers to get consumers to enjoy their new Weeknight Treat menu.

The £2m marketing campaign, entitled “Any excuse will do”, will centre around the message that the Weeknight Treat menu is such good value that you simply don’t need a reason to justify treating yourself.

The eight-inch stickers will be placed at 10 bus stop sites across the country – three sites in London and Manchester, and two sites in Nottingham and Glasgow – and can be peeled off and taken away. Each site will be refreshed every night with new stickers to reinforce the message that any night is great for a Weeknight Treat.

Running for two weeks from 15th February 2010, the promotion, conceived and developed by Pizza Hut’s ad agency AMV BBDO, will focus on examples of everyday occurrences that could be used as an excuse to visit Pizza Hut, such as finding a sock, getting a seat on the bus, or getting the kids up on time.

The Weeknight Treat menu runs from Sunday to Thursday after 6pm, and allows diners to enjoy a two course set menu plus a drink for £7, with kids eating for half price. The new menu follows the success of Pizza Hut’s Happy Hour deal, which offers a pizza, pasta or salad plus a side and a drink for just £4 from 3-6pm, Mondays to Fridays.

It is the first time that a UK restaurant company has utilised this technique in a marketing campaign.
