New Covent Garden Food Co. supports the BHF

Wed 10th Feb 2010
New Covent Garden Food Co. has linked with the British Heart Foundation, with the launch of its February soup of the month, Heart Warming Soup, as part of the charity’s National Heart Month.

The partners hope to raise £10,000 for the charity from sales of the product.

In keeping with National Heart Month’s ‘Red for Heart’ call-to-action, NCG have turned the outside of the Heart Warming Soup carton bright red. The recipe includes plum tomatoes, red peppers, courgettes and aubergines, which are all supposed to be good for the heart, and cartons also promote the British Heart Foundation’s BEAT code, which recommends that people ‘Be active Eat healthily’.

Jackie Skeel, head of fundraising promotions at the BHF, says: “We encourage the UK to follow the BEAT health code in National Heart Month and take steps towards leading a more heart healthy lifestyle. People can also raise vital funds to help us beat the UK’s biggest killer by purchasing New Covent Garden Food Co.’s Heart Warming Soup this February or visiting bhf.org.uk/soup to order a free fundraising kit.”
