Coca-Cola partners with RecycleBank to reward consumers for recycling
Tue 25th May 2010
RecycleBank is a rewards program which measures the amount of material each home recycles and converts that activity into RecycleBank Points to be used at hundreds of local and national rewards partners.
This partnership builds on Coca-Cola’s existing relationship with RecycleBank. The Company has worked with the scheme in the US since its inception in 2004.
A UK trial will take place from June, 2010 where 60,000 households in The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead participating in the RecycleBank programme may redeem their RecycleBank Points to select from a variety of everyday rewards – now to include money off vouchers for Coca-Cola brands.
Activated RecycleBank customers will be able to exchange their points for rewards and receive vouchers which can be redeemed at any participating outlet to claim £1 off Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coke Zero products in a range of pack sizes.
Liz Lowe, citizenship manager, Coca-Cola says: “We are delighted to partner with RecycleBank in the UK building on our existing partnership with the scheme in the United States. As well as ensuring we recycle our own waste as a business, we are committed to encouraging our consumers to recycle theirs.”
Sue Igoe, UK Managing Director at RecycleBank said: “It is fantastic to have such a huge household name as Coca-Cola on board as a national partner and top tier sponsor. This is a great reward for residents and will help to engage a wider audience which we hope will kick start mass recycling across the country. With the RecycleBank programme, everybody wins, the council, reward partners, residents and most importantly, the environment.”
