B&Q launches open value gift cards

B&Q's has launched an open value gift card for corporate customers.

The 'open value' concept means those purchasing gift cards are not governed by set denominations and gives the purchaser complete control over the monetary amounts being loaded onto it.

B&Q says topping up or reallocating cards is easy, as transactions are updated daily and can be monitored remotely, enabling complete visibility.

Stuart Lawrence, newly appointed national account manager for B&Q’s gift card, says: "This big investment in technology makes our gift cards far more flexible and offers enhanced security benefits. Any amount can be loaded on our gift cards now and they are also re-loadable, giving each card a longer life span."

SVM, a leader in the gift card industry and a user of B&Q's corporate gift cards, has been trialing the new technology and open value concept with the retailer for a number of months.

Becky Hampson, retail partner manager for SVM, says: "The benefits of topping up a single card will be at their greatest for our employee benefits schemes, where regular users of B&Q, or those saving for something specific of greater value, will be able to do so easily."
