Asda unveils new online gift card system

Asda Business Rewards has become the first company to provide a system that allows its corporate customers to activate and top up gift cards via the internet.
It unveiled its new Gift Card Management System (GCMS) at this week’s National Incentive Show at Birmingham NEC, saying it was the first supplier of incentives to put its business-to-business customers “in the driving seat”.
“The introduction of the GCMS will allow customers of Asda Business Rewards to store Asda gift cards initially with no value, and then load and activate them remotely once they have been distvributed to the relevant members of the scheme,” explained Graham Sellors, director of Asda Business Rewards.
“The new system offers parallel benefits to that of Asda gift vouchers but with the added advantage of secure gift card technology. Incentive schemes are commonly run by storing high-value gift vouchers on-site which often require special security measures to be put in place.
“Adopting the new technology will put Asda Business Rewards at the forefront of the B2B incentive and employee benefit market, allowing us to maintain the high service standards expected by our customers.”
The gift cards can be used to buy any of more than 30,000 products available in any of Asda’s 340 stores throughout the UK.
The system is provided by Jordan Media, the agency that is responsible for managing Asda Business Rewards. It is exhibiting at NIS, which runs until tomorrow (Thursday).
