REL hosts seminar to help brands unlock convenience market

The UK’s field marketing agency of the year 2010, REL, has announced that it is hosting a Convenience sector Seminar which will take place on 8 July, 2011 at the Carlton Club, 69 St James Street, London.

Key note speakers will include David Rees, editor of Convenience Store magazine and Brian Binley MP, chairman of the all-party group for small business and vice chairman of the Business Select Committee.

The half-day event, is designed to help brand owners understand the real size of the convenience market and the opportunities it holds for them, as well as how branded initiatives in the sector can be run cost-effectively.
The seminar will feature a review of the convenience retail sector, including analysis of the latest data from ‘him!’, SPA Future Thinking and the IGD.

Plus it will outline powerful sales and marketing capabilities and tools(ICE-Independent and Convenience Expertise) to ‘help brands unlock their potential’ in this growing market place.

Laurence Clube, managing director of REL, says: “Few brands today would question the power of field sales & field marketing, particularly in a financial climate that is forcing the big marketing battles onto the shop floor.
However, while in-store promotions bring a powerful immediacy to a brand’s marketing efforts, thanks to their proximity to point of purchase, many companies are still missing out by continuing to focus their point of purchase (POP) activity exclusively on the big supermarkets and overlooking the opportunities in the convenience sector.

“If brands are to understand how they can generate significant return on investment from their activities in this sector, then effective targeting is key, combined with flexible contact strategies and tactics, and backed up by thorough evaluation - and this is why this seminar came in to being.”

The conference starts with registration at 9.30am and concludes with buffet lunch at 1pm. Attendees will also be offered one day’s free consultancy to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by the convenience sector. Plus each delegate will receive a copy of the book “How to Turn Your Salesforce into Profit Heroes”, with foreword by Paul Walsh CEO Diageo PLC.
