Courvoisier invites consumers to Christmas Dickens Punch Tour
Following its success last year, the Courvoisier Dickens Punch Tour will run for two weeks from 23 November, taking guests on an interactive hour-long walking tour of Dickensian London, visiting key locations associated with the author.
The historic journey comes to life en route, with Dickens characters appearing along the way. The tour culminates at a ‘pop-up’ Old Curiosity Shop, where a warm Courvoisier punch, inspired by one of Dickens’ cognac punch recipes, the ‘Smoking Bishop’, will be served.
Courvoisier has a special link with Charles Dickens since it was established that he had a secret stash of 18 dozen bottles of French pale brandy, labelled ‘Pale Brandy F. Courvoisier’. It is believed that Courvoisier punch was a favourite tipple of his, as cognac punch recipes were also included in many of his literary works.
Maxxium UK’s marketing controller for Courvoisier and imported whiskeys, Eileen Livingston, says: “The Courvoisier Dickens Punch Tour not only brings to life the link between Courvoisier and Charles Dickens, but also highlights Courvoisier as a mixable spirit that can be enjoyed all year round.”
The tour is part of the brands Upgrade campaign promoting punch. This year has seen a raft of activity from the brand with its Upgrade campaign which has included advertising in the national press, striking outdoor domination, proximity marketing and an extensive sampling tour at major festivals across the country.
