Velvet builds children’s area at Kew Gardens

Tue 6th Oct 2009

Velvet toilet tissue is upping its involvement with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, with the building of a new play area for children, called ‘Treehouse Towers’, which is set to open during the October half term.

‘Treehouse Towers’ will be an outdoor tree-themed extension to Kew Gardens’ existing covered play area, Climbers and Creepers, and will be large enough for 300 children to enjoy at any one time.

The play area will feature climbing towers and wooden play equipment, including giant swings, zip wires, scramble nets, slides and a mountaineering ramp.

The development of ‘Treehouse Towers’ follows on from Velvet’s initial sponsorship of Kew’s Thinking Walks and aims to increase awareness of Velvet’s commitment to the environment. Velvet has ensured that all elements of the play area are created from FSC certified wood, tying in with its ‘three trees’ initiative, where it ensures that three trees are replanted for every one used.

This new play area forms part of an ongoing commitment to Kew, with further plans for 2010 to be announced. The launch will be supported by national and regional PR and promotional activity targeting schools and families, as well as on the Velvet website, www.velvetbabymd.com.
