Carling invites 2 million households to champion their local

Wed 19th May 2010
Carling is offering a free pint to get consumers to support their local pub or club, by sending two million vouchers to households.

Carling will send out direct mail offering drinkers a free pint down their local through a personalised invite from their landlord, asking consumers to come and experience the great taste of Carling for themselves in their pub.

Carling has taken action in a bid to help out locals as the credit crunch hits home – pubs are closing at the rate of six every day, with 2,000 outlets closing in the past year.

John Kerwood from The Green Man, Erwall, says: ‘The pub was on its knees when we bought it but we spent quite a lot of time doing it up. The Carling free pint promotion helped us build a stronger client base and it drove people in that didn’t know that the place had been refurbished. We got a lot of repeat visits on the back of the activity’.

Special point of sale packs have been sent out to all outlets participating in the promotion, which will run until 21st June.
