Pablo the talking drug mule dog hits London’s streets -- and buildings

Pablo, the drug mule dog from the Government’s newest ad in its Talk to Frank campaign, has been appearing on London’s streets – and even on some of London’s buildings – in a campaign executed by experiential agency Kommando.

In the TV ad, Pablo is shown dead, with his stomach cut open having been used to smuggle drugs into the country. The dog then takes viewers through a series of encounters with people and objects which highlight the dangers of cocaine.

Kommando was commissioned by social marketing agency Forster to send nomadic projector teams around London streets and youth centres, projecting live video footage featuring Pablo onto buildings and street canvases. The aim was to get young people to visit YouTube to view the full Pablo ad and get further information about the dangers of taking cocaine.

The campaign also involved the use of Bluetooth technology to send unique Talk to Frank messages to mobile handsets.

Kommando’s nomadic projectors and Bluetooth activity compliment TV, Cinema and Online advertising. Mark Evans, managing director at Kommando, says: “Guerrilla advertising was the best approach here. We had to target the audience in their everyday environments, ones that were relevant.”
