Marmite spreads the love on Facebook

This Valentine’s Day the makers of Marmite are ‘spreading the love’ with the release of three limited edition signed e-cards designed by artist and Marmite fan, Pete Fowler.

In 2011, the number of fans on the brand’s Facebook page, managed by Splendid Communications, grew by 28% to over 769,000 so as a thank you, Marmite is releasing the e-cards on 10th February exclusively at www.facebook.com/marmite.

Featuring the messages: ‘I need you in my life,’ ‘spread the love,’ and ‘let’s get together,’ fans can add a personal message to their favourite design before sharing it with their Facebook friends via an app.

As a well known fan of Marmite and a member of the Marmarati (an elite group of 200 of Marmite’s biggest fans) the brand commissioned Pete Fowler to design the cards.

Fowler, known for his iconic Monsterist illustrations for bands such as Super Furry Animals and The Horrors, says: “Marmite is my ultimate passion - after my girlfriend - so it was the yeast I could do to design the e-cards.”

Nicky Waymark, marketing manager at Unilever, adds: “We are delighted to launch the e-Valentine’s Day cards. Our fans are crazy about Marmite so we are always looking for new ways to engage.

"It has been great working with Pete as he is such a big supporter of the brand and understands it completely. Hopefully everyone will join in spreading the love and share the cards with their family and friends.”
