Green & Black's in online art competition
An ‘Art of Green & Black’s’ online microsite has been set up, where consumers can input their details to enter the draw to win the Blake-designed ‘Chocol’Art’ image, made up from 700 bars of Green & Black’s chocolate. Alternatively, the winner can opt to have 700 bars of chocolate and a signed print of the artwork.
Consumers can also create their own artwork on the site, with the nine best entries (as voted for by site visitors) then being judged by Sir Peter. The winner then gets either their own artwork, made from 700 bars of chocolate, or the 700 bars plus a print of their own work.
Finally, anyone who votes is entered into a draw to win a hamper of Green & Black’s products.
The online campaign was put together by Agency Republic.
Green & Black’s was also one of the sponsors of the ArtBarter event, held at London’s Rag Factory at the end of November. The sponsorship, arranged by Blazinstar Experiential and PHD Rocket, saw Blake’s artwork displayed on the walls of Tracy Emin’s former studio.
ArtBarter offers individuals the chance to barter for artwork using any alternative means to money. Visitors have offered use of their cars, holiday villas, homes and more unusual bids including ‘five hours of holistic massage’ in exchange for the art, including the work of Tracey Emin and Gavin Turk.
There is a catch, however – bidders do not know which artwork belongs to which artist until after the show has ended. The idea is that people value the art on the basis of whether they like it, not on who has created it and how bankable they might be.
Green & Black's was the first Fairtrade organic chocolate range to be launched in the UK, in 1991. It was bought by Cadbury in 2005, but is still run as an independent business.
