Crayon creates campaign for the Digital Music Awards
Wed 25th Aug 2010
The campiagn aims to encourage fans to bring in votes for their favourite band via interaction with the campaign website.
The site shows a digital stage and crowd, and users can register with the site to vote for their favourite bands. Once registered, fans can personalise their avatar which could appear in the virtual crowd.
By inviting their friends to vote through the “send to a friend” mechanism, the users’ avatar will appear closer to the digital stage. Users will be able to see their avatar, hear crowd noises and see how they can get closer to the stage, as well as how many votes they have.
By registering, users will also be entered into a competition to win 2 VIP tickets to the awards ceremony at The Roundhouse, in Camden, as well as £1000 spending money for the night, which will be held on 30th September. The campaign will run until the end of October.
Jasmine Holland, senior PR manager at BT, says: “Crayon’s campaign idea taps into the insight that fans want to feel a connection with their bands. One of the main ways of doing this is by visiting them at a gig and trying to get as close to the stage as possible. The closer you are to the stage with the biggest group of supporting friends, the more of a fan you really are.”
