vouchercloud celebrates 2 million downloads

vouchercloud, the UK’s first mobile money-saving app, is today celebrating 2 million downloads.

First launched on the iPhone in February 2010, vouchercloud is also available on Android and will shortly launch on Blackberry, with added features. Windows 7 will follow in the New Year.

Currently there are 40 million mobile phone users in the UK, half of which are smartphones. Based on these figures vouchercloud has claimed 10% of this booming market with major expansion plans in place for 2012.

Greg Le Tocq, managing director of vouchercloud, says: “It’s been a phenomenal few months for us. The vouchering sector has taken off exponentially over the past year - as has mobile marketing - so we are happily in the right place at the right time and have worked hard to stay ahead of the game.

“And it shows no sign of slowing down despite an increasingly crowded market place. Downloads per month are increasing and we’re now seeing over 100,000 new users joining us a month. More and more major retail brands are also now seeing the power of incentive mobile marketing so our content continually improves too. We also have some great new innovations planned for next year which will take mobile marketing to the next level.”

vouchercloud users have saved over £20 million on everything from coffee and pizzas to hotel stays and driving lessons. 4.5 million vouchers have been downloaded since launch. The most popular category for saving is Restaurants. vouchercloud users gender split is 52.5% male, 47.5% female. Percentage of national to local deals is 70 – 30%.
