Smirnoff and Time Out create new iPhone app

As part of Smirnoff’s ‘Be there’ global marketing campaign, the Diageo-owned vodka brand and listings magazine and website Time Out are collaborating to create an app for the iPhone that will list the latest events and experiences in and around London, plus reviews of films, arts events, restaurants and clubs from Time Out’s team of editors.

The app will make use of the iPhone’s geolocation service to provide information relevant to users based on where they are in London, if they want.

To promote the new app, Smirnoff and Time Out will be running monthly competitions, offering the chance to win entry to exceptional nightlife and entertainment around the world. The competitions can be entered either through the iPhone app or the collaboration’s microsite, beginning this month with the chance to win a trip to New York.

The Smirnoff & Time Out iPhone app will be available from Friday 18th December and will be promoted with an online and print campaign in Time Out, features on smirnoff.com and facebook.com/smirnoffGB, and PR. There will also be a mailing to Time Out's database of 165,000 London consumers.

Content will include the ‘Smirnoff Hot Picks’ round-up of the week’s ‘can’t miss’ events, a ‘booking ahead’ service and a unique library featuring some of London’s most iconic past events.
